God's People Devoted to God's Gifts

Founded in January 1988, Christ the King Free Lutheran has been serving Christ in East Grand Forks. We continue to gather around God's Word and Sacraments to grow in our faith and serve our neighbors by proclaiming God's Word of Law and Gospel and faithfully living out our vocations.

Our Members

While many of our members are residents of the Grand Cities, we also have members who travel quite a distance to attend Christ the King. We have many young families, retirees, and everyone in between. The forgiveness of Christ unites us. If you are interested in becoming a member, please talk to Pastor Sam. 

Our Pastor

Rev. Sam Wellumson began serving Christ the King in January 2010. Pastor Sam grew up in Williston, ND. He attended the Association Free Lutheran Bible School and completed his undergraduate degree in English Writing at University of Northwestern St. Paul, MN and his Masters of Divinity at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN. Pastor Sam has served on the AFLC’s Board of Publications & Parish Education and several years on the AFLC's Colloquy Committee. He and his wife, Sarah, have four children.
